Hand knotted in Nepal, Refraction rug is the centre piece to the foyer of Manchester Palace Hotel, designed by Alfred Waterhouse. The rug sits directly beneath the huge stain glass dome, from which we took inspiration for the start point of the design concept. We created a stylised interpretation of light refracted through the glass of the dome onto the marble floor beneath. The rug has a 60 mm deep sculpted pile of wool with silk highlights.
